Zadno Addition & Exterior Rehab
The Zadnos contacted me in 2010 while in escrow for the purchase of the Drayer residence. The purchase was contingent upon their being able to build an addition to the living area of the home. The Zadnos desired to have a more open and light filled environment. The solution was an extension of the liviing space into the existing porch. By reengineering and relocating two shear walls, the addition transformed the main living areas; creating an open, continuous, flowing space throughout. The new space incorporated the Dining area adjacent to the Entry with an undulating wall expressing the flow of circulation. To open the space a raised ceiling and the addition of an east facing window wall were created. The lower two lites of the window wall are obsscured to shield the drive and autos from view in the room while the upper two lites provide views to the east hillside vista with vineyard. The rehabilitation of the exterior included the use of a rainscreen system at the new Entrance Porch, new siding and soffiting areas includung the Carport.
