Van der Zee Addition & Remodeling
The origiinal Queen Anne "Cottage" was typical of a large number of similar homes built by an emerging middle class at the end of the nineteenth century. A previous owner had removed the original pony wall and redwood footing and set the unembellished “Cottage” on a grade level footing. The owners, Peter and Rene, wished to enlarged and expand the house to accommodate their large blended family. The house was raised to restore the original pony wall aestetic and create space for the kitchen-family room and the addition of two new Bedrooms. A Master Bedroom suite was added to the south with an extended circular verandah reiterating the existing entry Porch.
