Lyeth Residence Addition
The previous owner had structurally upgraded and refurbished the Italianate style home, built circa 1886. The work retained the homes original elements and ambiance except in the rear extension. Ms. Lyeth desired to enlarge the kitchen and living space and add a master bedroom suite. The rear extension was removed to allow for the additiion. A second stair was added and used to separate and link the original building to the new two story volume of the Kitchen-Family room addition. A curved Balcony extends from the landing in the original home to the top of the new stair and overlooks the Kitchen-Family room, enhancing the spacial interaction. The south facing clerestory and all west facing openings of the Kichen-Family room are shaded with exterior motorized blinds to control the harsh afternoon sun. The Master Bedroom suite extends off the Kitchen-Family room along the southern property line. The Master Bedroom, Bathroom and Office open onto a private souhern facing courtyard that brings light and ventilation while retaining privacy.
