The Drayers desired to have a more open and light filled space to work in and to have the Kitchen facilities brought up to contemporary standards. To accomplish this the entire Kitchen/Dining area of the house was gutted and the roof above the Kitchen work area removed. The raising of the roof allowed for the addition of a clearstory window on the North-West facing wall, which is shaded by a concealed exterior automatic blind. Bar facilities were separated from the Kitchen; both defining, and linking the Kitchen and the Living room.
